- Wanda and Esther (& Mary) about to leave
Getting on with The Job
Getting on with the job can mean more than getting onto the Wards. The Principle Nursing Officer, Sr Esther Kobusingye and Principle Tutor of the School of Nursing, Sr Mary Mubeezi and Sr Wanda Lovett left Kisiizi on 17th Feb to go to sundry parts. Wanda to Kampala for a nursing research seminar, Mary and Esther to Britain to visit The Countess of Chester Hospital.
Visiting Chester
You will know that there is a link between The Countess of Chester Hospital and Chester University on one side and Kisiizi Hospital on the other. Planning has taken place, and they have visited us twice. This visit of Mary and Esther is the first step beyond planning to take of practical action. They will be in Chester in mid February to learn out Chester University’s distance leaning package, and to work with The Countess of Chester Hospital on various aspects of nurse post-qualification support, CPD and supervision.
While other links have been church based, or at least church connected, this is our first entirely secular one. We believe the benefits will be two way.
- Undoubtedly Chester will bring the rigour of modern Western hospital programmes to Kisiizi Hospital, which straddles both village life and modern hospital action.
- In return, we will seek to transmit core Christian faith which drives our mission to care and cure, to Chester, which straddles both a heritage of Christian care in a modern context of secular management.
Watch this space.
Birds
Just to let you know that we have set up a page Kisiizi Birds, with information on the birds of Kisiizi. We ahve put quite a lot of pictures on our area in http://flickr/com, (search “Kisiizi” to see a lot of Kisiizi pictures). Watching the birds is an enjoyable leisure activity, when there are not so many here to chose from. The bright coloured birds and their songs are a nice reminder of the Creator God who made them all, and gave us our eyes to see and enjoy them.
