About Us

The kids went and time for change came.  Having worked overseas before, we have long believed that we would go overseas again. We have been working in southwest Uganda since June 2008, as CMS Mission Partners in Kisiizi Hospital, Church of Uganda.

The Hospital is planning a number of developments: an important collaboration with the Countess of Chester NHS Trust; further building work for the School of Nursing; bringing the Power Company to full operation as the new 320kW turbine is installed and brought to life.  Bill is the Finance Manager for the Hospital.  He involved in these developments, but the key priorities at present are: managing cash flow in tight circumstances; developing donor relations; preparing for audit; improving internal financial reporting. As a licensed Anglican Lay Reader, he is involved in preaching at the church services.

Wanda is working at the School of Nursing, attached to the Hospital, as it seeks to train under the new Government of Uganda Comprehensive Scheme of Training. She teaches on the courses, she works with the Principal on timetabling planning, she helps plan the offsite work-placements.  She is also exploring how the nursing students can be used in the modest community based health programmes in the area.

We are both actively involved in the Hospital based fellowships.  We both regularly preach on the ward services, in the Sunday Chapel, and the evening fellowships. We have worked in the Two-Thirds World before, in Pakistan in the 1970s and Nepal in the 1980’s, with CMS. Bill is a qualified accountant and HR professional.  As well as working in Pakistan and Nepal, he has worked in universities and colleges in UK. In his last job he was responsible for finance and corporate services for an RNIB college for young adults with visual impairments and learning difficulties. Wanda is a community health nurse specialist and has qualifications in infant and family psychotherapy.  In her last job, her work in the NHS included the support of children under five and their families with their emotional and behavioural needs.

We also have twins, now grown up. They were with us in Nepal, and are interested in coming out to Uganda to see what mum and dad are up to.

We both came to faith in young adulthood. Because of the both our backgrounds (English/Spanish, Polish/Polish-Ukrainian), we are have always been well aware of the needs of the world beyond our shores, as well as within. Having received so much, we seek to give something back.  We know that in doing so, we will also receive too, from our brothers and sisters in Christ in Uganda.
