Kisiizi Hospital Power Ltd: At a nearby river and waterfall a small 60 kilowatt turbine was fitted to provide a reliable source of electricity to the hospital. This is was enlarged to provide 320 kilowatt, to the hospital and surrounding villages. It was opened in 2010.
Chaplaincy: There is a comprehensive series of activities: daily morning services, prayers in the wards, three types of staff fellowships in the evenings, as well as worship on Sundays. There is also an annual youth conference, and teams go out into the district too.
Big Issues: Despite good mobile phone reception and fairly good internet, getting and keeping qualified and technically able staff in what is regarded as a backwater. Need more nurse tutors. But thanks to God for what has been given.
And the weather: the daytime temperature is much the same all year, 22<24°C (London 6<22°C), but it rains more, 20<125mm/month (London 37<64). For more detail see the Kisiizi Weather page under the Kisiizi Life page.

Someone once said that if you flew over Kisiizi and blinked you would miss it… and yet it is remarkable how much impact the ministry of Kisiizi has had in its 50 years. Many Ugandans from a large catchment area have found physical healing and practical love from the Staff, many have heard and seen the good news of Jesus shared in word and deed. Inevitably there have been many challenges along the journey yet God’s faithfulness has shone through. Many visitors have gone home with changed lives and the Kisiizi family now extends to a number of countries. Praise God for Kisiizi’s motto “Life in all its fullness” and its outworking over half a century.
Dr. Ian all you are talking about is nothing but the truth, I think some one who said that if you flew over Kisiizi and blinked you would miss it may be was meaning those old days before the Hospital was built. I am born from Kisiizi and actually the closest neighbour to the hospital so I may be the best witness, I will let people know that God has been wonderful to us and with the Hospital serving Kisiizi and the whole Nation atlarge, indeed we have got life in its fullness both physically and spiritually. We thank God for the the FRIENDS OF KISIIZI, May God the almighty continue blessing you. And now that we shall be having power sooner, Kisiizi will be HALF LONDON!
God bless you.
I don‘t know If I said it already but …Excellent site, keep up the good work. I read a lot of blogs on a daily basis and for the most part, people lack substance but, I just wanted to make a quick comment to say I’m glad I found your blog. Thanks,
