It is a funny thing to say – that perhaps it is a sign of success that your organisation has survived long enough for near-pioneer staff to actually reach retirement age. Well that is the case here – for in the coming year, there will be significant change in the senior staff of the Hospital Group. (more…)

What kind of connection with Africa is needed? This is what we took away from the Mid Africa Conference 2010 in Swanwick Derbyshire. The depth. The breadth. The frequency.
Roger Bowen gave us some startling quotes as he led us to reflect on “Mission and Worship”. “Without worship – you shrink. It is as brutal as that” from Peter Shaeffer’s Equus. Or try Ralph Waldo Emerson “What we are worshipping, we are becoming”. (Goodness, imagine a BMW or iPad with arms and legs walking down the street.) But more on this on another occasion. Back to connections.

Doing things not in the Job Description. And unlike some Mission Partners, both of us do have job descriptions. But for two weeks in July we helped out at the annual CMS Conference and Training Conference. Looking after some of the older children of those in training. “You’ve had children, yes?” Well.. yes. They are in their 30′s. However, we had kids when we were in mission training and others helped out. So it was only fair to “Give as you have received”. And also, a chance to get some In-Service training on Facebook, refresher training on 10 pin bowling, table tennis, table football, collage, and kid-flicks.
